By serving up their more nuanced versions of events with a glossy ‘liberal’ bias, they succeed in patronizing the longer attention span of the well-to-do sub-urban boomer generation, whilst doing nothing to seriously question the primacy of the US form of oligarchy. This includes, and perhaps especially so, oligarchs in the form of the owners of said news organs. Contrary to their grandiloquent claims otherwise, the editorial thrust of these self-appointed guardians of democracy, surreptitiously and repeatedly aims kicks at the already unconscious body of democracy when it is down.
